Two Tankers Down tells the story of two amazing rescue efforts off Cape Cod in 1952. Two tankers, the Pendleton and the Fort Mercer, split in two on the same day in the same horrible storm. A handful of Coast Guard lifebboatmen set out to rescue them.
Author Robert R. Frump, a nationally recognized journalist is the author of two other books. He was the maritime writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer for many years and won the George Polk Award, with Tim Dwyer, for their reporting on the wreck of the Marine Electric.
